Google Keep is quick, free, and syncs everywhere, but it was never built for long-form notes or deep organization. Evernote offers notebooks, tags, attachments, and full-text search in one dependable home. Learn how to convert your Google Keep notes to Evernote in a few simple steps below.
Export your Google Keep notes
-
Go to Google Takeout: takeout.google.com. Sign in to your Google account if you aren't already signed in.
-
Deselect all products: Google Takeout wants to export everything: Gmail, Drive, Photos, and more. Click Deselect all at the top-right corner to start fresh.
-
Select Keep: Scroll down the list until you find Keep and check its checkbox. This tells Google to include only your Keep notes in the export.
-
Configure your export settings: Scroll to the bottom and click Next step. On the following page, make sure Destination is set to Send download link via email, File type is set to .zip, and File size is set to 4 GB.
-
Create the export: Click Create export. Google will begin packaging your Keep notes. This can take a while depending on how many notes you have.
-
Download your notes: Once the export is ready, you'll receive a download link in your email. Click Download your files to get the .zip file. Google may ask you to sign in again for security.
Convert your notes
With your notes exported, the conversion itself takes seconds. We'll use our app Notes Convert, the only notes conversion tool on the market, that runs entirely on your device. You can download Notes Convert here. It's free for 50 notes, and inexpensive for unlimited notes.
-
Import into Notes Convert: Open Notes Convert and set the import format to Google Keep. Click Open File and select the .zip file you downloaded from Google Takeout. Notes Convert reads the exported Keep data directly, preserving your titles, text, checkboxes, labels, and images.
-
Choose Evernote and convert: Pick Evernote as the output format, click Convert, choose where to save your notes, and wait for the conversion.
Import into Evernote
-
Open Evernote on your computer: Import works in the Evernote app for Windows or macOS.
-
Import the ENEX file: Go to File → Import…, select the .enex file Notes Convert produced, and click Open. Wait for the import to finish and click OK.
-
Check your notebooks: Your notes land in a new notebook named after the .enex file, ready to search, tag, and organize.
Done
Your Evernote notes are ready to be used any way you want. Enjoy!
