How to Convert Markdown Files to Plain Text

Markdown is the closest thing note-taking has to a universal language. Plain text is the most durable format there is. Learn how to convert your Markdown files to Plain Text in a few simple steps below.

Convert your notes

With your Markdown files in a folder or .zip file, the conversion itself takes seconds. We'll use our app Notes Convert, the only notes conversion tool on the market, that runs entirely on your device. You can download Notes Convert here. It's free for 50 notes, and inexpensive for unlimited notes.

  1. Import into Notes Convert: Open Notes Convert and set the import format to Markdown. Click Open Folder… and select the folder with your Markdown notes, or click Open File… and select a .zip of that folder. Notes Convert adds the structure of the target format while keeping your content intact.

  2. Choose Plain Text and convert: Pick Plain Text as the output format, click Convert, choose where to save your notes, and wait for the conversion.

Done

Your Plain Text files are ready to be used any way you want. Enjoy!
