Who We Are

Notes Convert is developed and operated by Hyuri Pimentel ("we", "us", "our"), an individual developer based in Brazil.

This address is also our communication channel for data protection matters (LGPD, Lei 13.709/2018). As a small-scale data processing agent, we use this channel for requests from data subjects and from the ANPD.

Scope

This policy explains how we handle personal data when you:

  • use the Notes Convert mobile app for iOS/iPadOS and Android;
  • use the Notes Convert desktop app for Windows, macOS, or Linux;
  • purchase a license or subscribe to our newsletter through notesconvert.com.

Your Notes Never Leave Your Device

Notes Convert converts your notes locally on your device. We do not receive, store, or transmit your notes, attachments, file names, or any content you convert.

The apps contain no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no usage tracking of any kind. We do not collect advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, or any other data from your device beyond the purchase validation described below.

Mobile App Purchases (iOS/iPadOS and Android)

When you buy Notes Convert in the App Store or on Google Play, the transaction is processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details from the stores.

To validate the purchase and enforce the device limit, the app sends the store name, the product identifier, the transaction or purchase identifier, the app version, and a random installation identifier to notesconvert.com. Our server verifies the purchase directly with Apple or Google, stores the purchase record (store, product, purchase identifier, status, and timestamps) together with the installation identifier to count active devices, and returns a signed entitlement token that unlocks unlimited conversions on that device. The token expires after 30 days and the app revalidates it at least every 7 days.

Apple and Google process your purchase data under their own privacy policies.

Desktop and Web License Purchases

When you purchase a license on notesconvert.com:

  • your name, email address, and purchase status are collected to issue your license and provide support;
  • payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your card details;
  • your license key is delivered by email through Brevo, our email service provider.

Activating, deactivating, and periodically revalidating your license happen online against notesconvert.com: your license key, a random installation identifier, and the app version are sent to us so we can verify the license, enforce the permitted number of devices, and issue a signed entitlement token. The token expires after 30 days and is revalidated at least every 7 days; routine use of the app stays offline between revalidations.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address (with your consent) to send occasional updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Support

If you contact us for support, we process your name, email address, and the information you choose to share so we can respond.

Purposes and Legal Bases

We process personal data only for these purposes, under the corresponding legal bases of the LGPD (Art. 7):

  • Contract Performance: issuing and delivering your license, activating purchases, verifying purchases and licenses with the relevant store, enforcing the permitted number of devices, and providing support.
  • Legal Obligation: keeping purchase and tax records as required by Brazilian law.
  • Legitimate Interest: preventing fraud, enforcing device limits, and protecting the security of our services, limited to what is necessary.
  • Consent: sending the newsletter, which you may revoke at any time.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate Notes Convert:

Some of these providers process data outside Brazil. When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses adopted under ANPD Resolution CD/ANPD No. 19/2024, or on other legal transfer mechanisms of the LGPD (Art. 33).

Retention

  • Purchase and license records: kept while your license or purchase is active and for up to 5 years after the purchase, to enforce device limits, prevent fraud, and comply with tax and consumer protection laws.
  • Support messages: kept for up to 2 years after the last interaction.
  • Newsletter subscription: kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Any other data: kept only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

Your Rights

Under the LGPD (Art. 18), you can request, at any time:

  • confirmation that we process your personal data;
  • access to your personal data;
  • correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data;
  • anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data;
  • portability of your data to another provider;
  • deletion of data processed with your consent;
  • information about how your data is shared;
  • revocation of your consent.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including TLS encryption for our website and API, store-managed payment flows, and cryptographically signed, short-lived entitlement tokens that are verified offline between revalidations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we collect.

Children

Notes Convert is not directed to children and we do not knowingly process personal data of children or adolescents. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Refunds and Store Purchases

For purchases made in the App Store or on Google Play, refunds and purchase management are handled by Apple or Google through your store account. For licenses purchased on notesconvert.com, you have the right of withdrawal under Art. 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Code (CDC): you may cancel within 7 days of the purchase by contacting us at hello@notesconvert.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The latest version is always published at notesconvert.com/privacy with its update date. If changes are material, we will highlight them on the website.
